Obituary

Philip R. Shea, 92, of Worcester, passed away Tuesday, January 31st in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Jane M. (Slawinski) Shea; a son, Philip R. Shea, Jr. and his wife Dianne of Auburn; a daughter, Kathleen S. Degon and her husband Marvin of Millbury; four grandchildren, Philip R. Shea, III and his wife Joselle, Jennifer Matthew and her husband Jason, Amanda Williams and her husband Jason, and Marvin Degon, IV, and his wife Taryn; three great grandchildren, Cian, Danelea, and Ava; and several nephews and nieces. A daughter, Patricia M. Shea, died in 1993. He was also predeceased by several siblings.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Michael and Bertha (Moreau) Shea and graduated from St. John’s High School. Mr. Shea was the Director of Food Services at the College of the Holy Cross, where he worked for 54 years. He was a member of North American Martyrs Parish, Auburn. Philip enjoyed spending summers in Wells, Maine, traveling, going out to lunch, and was a huge fan and supporter of Holy Cross sports. He was a World War II United States Army veteran.

His funeral will be held Saturday, February 4th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, February 3rd from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. John’s Food for the Poor, 44 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
