Obituary

Worcester – Sotir M. “Richard” Seferi, 96, of Worcester, died in his home with his family by his side on Monday, January 30th after a short illness.

Mr. Seferi is predeceased by his wife Olga (Malisori) Seferi, who died in 2005 after 65 years of marriage. He is survived by two sons, James Seferi of Worcester, with whom he lived and Nicholas Seferi of Oxford; two daughters, Patricia Christo of Monroe, CT and Barbara Peters of Holyoke, MA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Richard was born in Polena, Albania son of the late, Miti and Sofi (Baratsie) Seferi and is also predeceased by a grandchild and his sister, Helen Maynard.

Mr. Seferi is a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in the European Theater. He worked for 33 years at the former Crompton Knowles Company and after his retirement he worked for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority as a toll collector and later worked as a manager of Seferi Liquors in Oxford.

Richard was a member of Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church where he was one of the founding members. He was also a member of the Guiding Light Masonic Lodge in Charlton.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3rd at 10AM in Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with burial to follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 2nd from 5 to 7 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Richard may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church 34 Gold Street Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
