Obituary




Thanas Dudo, 91, of Worcester, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle died Wednesday, January 4th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Artimsi (Meraja) Dudo; two sons, George Dudo and his wife, Lida, and Ligor Dudo and his wife, Ornela; two daughters, Natasha Cani and her husband, Gjergji, and Efti Thimo and her husband, Kosta all of Worcester; 8 grandchildren, Elton Cani and his wife, Tixiana, Tamis Dudo, Oli Hanna and her husband, James Hanna, Jr., Arda Kerleshi and her husband, Dritan, Kris Thimo, Thanas Dudo, Theo Thimo and Nicolas Dudo; 5 great grandchildren, Franceska N. Cani, Kaylie L. Kerleshi, Avry Thimo, George L. Cani and Jacob A. Kerleshi; a niece, Theodhora Shyti and her husband, Viktor of Philadelphia. He was predeceased by a sister, Vileta Minka.
He was born in Polena, Korce, Albania the son of Eftali (Ropi) Dudo and Thomas Dudo who was a veteran of World War I. Thanas was a veteran of the Second World War and came to the United States in 1992. In 1996, Thanas brought his children to the United States. He was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church. Mr. Dudo was a good friend who enjoyed the company of his friends at Elm Park. He had a passion to learn and enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His funeral is Saturday, January 7th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 9:00 AM in St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, January 6th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
