Susan M. (Akasten) Burke, 62, of Stafford Springs, formerly of Worcester, MA., and Auburn, MA., passed away on Thursday December 15, 2016 in her home.
She is survived by her husband, Augustine F. Burke, three sons, Kevin J. Burke of Stafford Springs; Myles A. Burke and Christopher J. Burke both of Savannah, GA., a grandson, Caleb Cesaitis of Oxford, MA., a brother, William Akasten and his wife Chris of Worcester. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Valentine C. and Rita (Arasniewicz) Akasten.
Many years ago Susan was a Social Worker at Worcester State Hospital and worked there for several years. She was a graduate of Holy Name High School and attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
The funeral will be held on Thursday December 22, 2016 with a Memorial Mass at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street, Worcester. Burial will be at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, Worcester is assisting the family.
