F. Pansy (Harrington) Kennedy, 90, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at U. Mass/Memorial Hospital in Worcester.
She was born November 27, 1926 in Oxford daughter of the late M. Harold and Florence P. (Turner) Harrington.
Pansy is survived by a daughter, Priscilla A. McVeigh and her husband Douglas J. of Dudley with whom she made her home. A son, Philip A. Kennedy and his wife Diana M. of Kentwood, MI., eight grandchildren: Dianne Norton and her husband Jaime of Vineyard Haven, Karen Lafayette and her husband Marc of Ludlow, Douglas A. McVeigh and his wife Nancy of Ludlow, Nancy L. Bouchard and her husband Joseph of Oxford, Eric Kampe of New York, Thomas Kampe and his wife Melissa of Dudley, Andrew Kennedy of North Oxford, and Colleeen Kennedy-Carscadden and her husband Lucas of Baltimore, MD., eleven great-grandchildren: Jessica and Stephanie McVeigh, Marcus and Alexander Lafayette, Stephen and Tyler Bouchard, Douglas and Jonathan Norton, Kennedy Kampe, Miles and Will Carscadden, a brother, Richard T. Harrington and his wife Gloria of Oxford and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kennedy was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, Andrew L. Kennedy, a daughter Linda L. Kampe and her husband Kenneth Kampe and four brothers, Merritt H., Charles N., Russell T., and John W. Harrington.
She was a member of the Class of 1944 of Oxford High School, attended and was certified from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks at Salve Regina College in Newport, Rhode Island.
Mrs. Kennedy served as Assistant Town Clerk of Oxford for five years 1955-1960 and then as Town Clerk for thirty four years, 1960-1994. She was a member of the Charter Committee of Oxford, a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church since 1938 and was currently the oldest member of the church, also , she was a member and past president of the church’s Women’s Society of Christian Service , a member, charter member and past president of the Oxford Women’s Club, a member of the Hayden Pond Association was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles and time spent with family and friends. She took particular interest in the education and life experiences of her grand children and great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special THANK YOU to the staff and nurses of Magnolia Unit at Life Care Center of Auburn and the V.N.A. of Southern Worcester County and Tri-Valley Elder Care Services for their compassion that they gave and showed Pansy.
The Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1 PM at Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., burial will immediately follow in North Cemetery.
There will be a visitation period for family and friends Saturday, December 17 from 11Am to 12:30 PM in the Church Parlor prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: The Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St. or the Oxford Public Library, 339 Main St., both in Oxford, MA. 01540.
