WORCESTER-Edward F. Durkin, 78, passed away on Monday, December 5th. Edward leaves nine nieces and nephews, James M. McTigue of Shrewsbury and his companion Sandra Pace, John V. McTigue and his wife Joyce of Worcester, Christine A. Mullaney and her husband Matthew of Worcester, Philip J. McTigue and his wife Molly of Charlton, Stephen D. McTigue of Charlton, Eileen M. McTigue of Southborough and her companion Robert McDonald, Mark Durkin and wife MaryJane of Destin, FL, Matthew Durkin of Virginia Beach, VA and Paul Durkin and his wife Melissa of Virginia Beach, VA; 12 great nieces and nephews and 2 great great nephews. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Dorothy S. Durkin of Richmond, VA. wife of Edward's brother the late Paul Durkin. Edward was also preceded in death by his brother John J. Durkin, Jr. and his sister, Rosemary McTigue.
Edward was born in Worcester the son of John J. and Anne E. (Tucker) Durkin. He graduated from St. John’s High School in 1956 and Clark University in 1960. Edward served in the Army Intelligence.
A visiting hour for Edward will be held on Saturday, December 10th from 9:30 until 10:45am at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. His Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am. Burial with military honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Angels Church Family Center, 1222 Main St., Worcester, MA 01603.
