Helen E. (Halley) Nugent, 90, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. Her husband of 29 years, Nicholas P. Nugent, died in 1982. She leaves two sons, Richard P. Nugent and his wife Noreen of Framingham and Kevin P. Nugent and his wife Suzanne of Charlton; four daughters, Nancy H. Bazinet and her husband Paul of Charlton, Deborah A. Nugent of Worcester, Kathleen E. Nugent of Dudley, and Linda E. Monahan and her husband Stephen of Leicester; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Nugent of Worcester; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nephews, nieces and her cat, Angel. She was predeceased by her son, Wayne D. Nugent, in 1998 and her siblings, John Halley, Lawrence Halley, Margaret Desavage, Doris Anderson, Mary Halley, and Theresa Henderson.
She was born in Worcester, a daughter of John and Marion L. (Lizotte) Halley and graduated from the former High School of Commerce. Mrs. Nugent worked as a secretary for many years at the former Crompton & Knowles Co. in Worcester. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish. Helen was a cake decorator for many years at Pleasant Valley Country Club. She enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, painting, cooking, word puzzles, shoes, coins, and of course, getting a good bargain.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, is assisting with arrangements.
