Obituary

WEBSTER – Dorothy B. (Bigelow) Craver, 90, of Christopher Heights, died Monday, October 31, 2016 in Webster Manor after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 64 years, Nelson B. Craver; 3 children, Bruce B. Craver and his wife Diane of Greenland, NH, Carolyn E. Richardson and her partner Jason Hallock of Gloucester, and Melinda B. “Mindy” Craver and her partner Tom Walsh of Webster; 4 grandchildren, Keith Craver, Alysha Brennan, Anna Craver and Mariya Craver Lempicki; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother Windsor H. Bigelow, Jr. and his wife Jackie of Charlton; nieces and nephews.

She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Windsor H. Bigelow, sr. and Ethel C. (Nelson) Bigelow. She moved to East Longmeadow at the time of her marriage in 1952. She then resided in Foxboro and lived in Falmouth for 31 years, moving to Webster in 2013. She graduated from South High School in Worcester and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Simmons College in Boston.

Mrs. Craver was a registered nurse who taught health. Dot worked in Worcester at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester as the director of student nurses. She pioneered the health education program at Foxboro High School. She retired in 1982.

She was a member of Saint Mark’s Church in Foxboro and then of St. Barnabas Church in West Falmouth. She had belonged to the Garden Club in Foxboro and the Garden Club in Falmouth. She and her husband travelled all over the world for 25 years.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made to VNA Hospice of Southern Worcester County, PO Box 368, Webster, MA 01570-0368. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
