Obituary

Evans, GA - William (Wild Bill) Burnet was born Jan 31, 1933 in Mountain Home Idaho and left us 15 October 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Billie, son, Danny Capehart, daughter, Vicki Keenan, 4 grandchildren, Danielle, Summer, Crystal and Sara and 7 great grandchildren.

He was a talented athlete in high school and his coach once said he had the best throwing arm he had ever seen. His parents were hard working Idaho ranchers. But he couldn’t wait to join the Navy where he served for 24 years until his retirement in 1972. He received numerous awards for meritorious service during his career. Following active duty, he relocated his family to Martinez and worked at the VA hospital in Augusta until retirement. He was very active in the Elks Lodge #205 in Augusta. He was special to all who knew him. He was a friend to many, a loving husband, father and grandfather and was deeply loved by all of them. He had charm, charisma and a quick wit that bordered inappropriate. He had the iron strong will of a billy goat, loved Canadian Mist and fresh in our memories are the smell of his Ralph Lauren Polo, rocking a flannel shirt (not having a pocket was a deal breaker) and the Korean War Veteran cap he so often wore. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. God doesn’t make them any better. He was a truly outstanding human being.

In lieu of flowers please honor his memory with a donation to the Augusta Elks Lodge #205, 205 Elkdom Ct. Augusta, GA 30907.
