Obituary

Boylston - Edith F. (Gonyea) MacDonald, 98, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2016. She was the widow of Clifford M. MacDonald. She leaves her two sons, Edward W. MacDonald and his partner William Paulding, with whom she lived, and Clifford M. MacDonald Jr. and his wife Mary Jean of Virginia, 4 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters and 2 brothers: Eleanor Reynolds, Loretta Maskie, Irene Holt, Thomas Gonyea, and Robert Gonyea. Edith had lived in Boylston for 70 years and was active in the Boylston Grange and St. Mary of the Hills Women's Guild and choir. She also helped to prepare and deliver Meals-on-Wheels. As the oldest resident of Boylston, she was the proud holder of the Boston Post Cane.

The family extends a very special "thank you" to her long-time Health Aid Jennifer Reyes and the Jewish Healthcare Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Friday, Oct. 14, from 4-7pm. The funeral will be held Sat. Oct. 15 from Nordgren's with an 11:00am Mass at St. Mary of the Hills, Boylston. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
