Michael Nikiforakis, 75, of Worcester, died Sunday, September 18th in St. Vincent Hospital. His wife, Elisabeth "Veta" (Parafestas) Nikiforakis died in 2014. He is survived by his son, Poseidon Nikiforakis of Worcester; his daughter Grace Theoharidis and her husband, Dennis of Dennis; two brothers, Dimitiri Nikiforakis and his wife, Soso of Gouves, Crete and Nicholas Nikiforakis and his wife, Chrysoula of Almyros, Greece and his sister, Marika Koutly of Oropo, Greece; six grandchildren, Jerrica Hassan, Elisabeth and Michael Nikiforakis, Dennis, Michael and Andrew Theoharidis; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Contreras and many nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Argyro Petraki and Stavroula Belivanakis predeceased him.
He was born in Heraklion, Crete the son of Poseidon and Evdokia Nikiforakis and came to Worcester in 1967. Michael had served in the Greek Army. He had owned and operated North Brookfield Pizza for many years before retiring. Mr. Nikiforakis had been a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. His greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren.
Calling hours are Friday, September 23rd from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 6:45 the evening of calling hours.
