Obituary

CHARLTON – Gerald F. “Jerry” Bonner, 66, died Thursday, September 15, 2016, surrounded by his family, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 23 years, Kelly C. (Duffy) Bonner; two sons, Robert J. Bonner and Quinn M. Bonner; a daughter, Mackenzie E. Bonner, all of Charlton; two sisters, Elizabeth “Betsy” Cavanagh of East Greenwich, Rhode Island and Patricia Bonner of Georgetown, Maine; and a cousin, Gail Bonner of Richmond, Rhode Island.

He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Bigbee) Bonner and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island. He graduated from Warwick Veteran’s Memorial High School in 1968. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from The College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, in 1972 and his Masters in Business Administration from Columbia University, New York, in 1974.

Mr. Bonner worked for fifteen years as a financial advisor. He stopped working only recently due to illness. Prior to that, he worked for 27 years in international apparel sourcing, operating in 70 different countries.

He was a communicant of Saint Joseph’s Church in Charlton, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Earlier he was chairman of the parish’s Partners in Charity campaign. He was an active member of the Charlton Lions Club, most recently serving as President, as well as a supporter of the Holy Cross Association.

The funeral will be held Saturday September 24th, with a Mass at 12:30 PM at Saint Joseph’s Church, 10 H. Putnam Road, Charlton. Burial will take place privately at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly, Rhode Island. Calling hours will take place at Saint Joseph’s Church on Friday, September 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00PM.The family requests that donations in his name be made to the Holy Cross Fund, The College of the Holy Cross, 1 College Street, Worcester, MA 01610. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sitkowski & Malboeuf, 340 School Street, Webster, MA 01570.
