Obituary

Worcester – David P. Saksa, 81, of Worcester, died on Saturday, September 10th in the Worcester Healthcare Center after an illness.

Mr. Saksa is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne Marie J. (Tetreault) Saksa; 2 sons, Worcester Firefighter, Stephen P. Saksa and Worcester Firefighter, Brian D. Saksa both of Worcester; a sister, Jean Lacava of Westboro; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Saksa of Worcester and Jennifer Toomey of West Roxbury; 2 great grandchildren, Noah Gurnick and Daniel Toomey Jr. and many nephews and nieces.

David was born in Worcester, son of the late Amos and Hazel (Kane) Saksa and is also predeceased by a daughter in law, Maureen saksa; 3 brothers, Edward Saksa, Robert Saksa and Richard Saksa and two sisters, Nancy Brindisi and Mary Howe.

He proudly served the United States in the Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Corporal. David owned and operated the Webster Square Mobil Gas and Service Station for many years and then he continued his career in the automotive industry as a truck mechanic until he retired.

Mr. Saksa was a member of the Main South American Legion Post #341 and was an avid fan of the UConn Women’s Basketball team. He volunteered his time for many years as a baseball coach at the former Maranville Little League at Maloney’s Field.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 16 at 10AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main Street. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 15 from 4 to 7 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions in memory of David be made to Veterans Inc. 69 Grove St. Worcester, MA 01605.
