Obituary

East Brookfield: Louis A. Petruzzi 85 of Knox Trail Rd., died Friday, Sept. 9 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 25 years, Claire T. (Cote) Petruzzi, his daughter Deborah A. Carpe and her husband Barry of East Brookfield,
two sons Paul A. Petruzzi and his wife Ann of E.Brookfield, and James L. Petruzzi and his wife Diane of Leicester, a step son William A. Bowles and his wife Susan of Hardwick, a brother John J. Petruzzi and his wife June of E.Brookfield, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife Irene D. (Gendreau) Petruzzi in 1989, brothers Ralph and Francis Petruzzi and sisters Florence Allen, Mary Petruzzi, Alma Sleeper, Theresa Edens and Rose Burgos.
Louie was the owner of Petruzzi Farms before retiring in 1983 and L.A. Petruzzi Vegetable Farms both in E.Brookfield before retiring in 1992.
Born in E.Brookfield, he was the son of Luigi and Margaret (Ficociello) Petruzzi and later graduated from David Prouty High School in 1948. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Mass.Farm Bureau and New England Vegetable Growers Assoc.
Louie was a Selectman in E.Brookfield for 27 years from 1966-93 having served on various town committees. He was a former E.Brookfield Firefighter for 30 years and served as Assistant Fire Chief. He was a former Trustee and Corporator of No.Brookfield Savings Bank. Along with his wife, Claire they wintered in Florida for many years where he was a volunteer for the Make a Wish Foundation at Disney World.
Louie's funeral will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, No.Brookfield Rd., E.Brookfield. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, E.Brookfield. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Sept. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the "Louis & Irene Petruzzi Memorial Scholarship Fund",c/o D.P.H.S. Permanent Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 172, Spencer, Ma. 01562.
