Obituary

James Malley, Sr., 84, of Worcester, passed away Friday, September 9th in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. His wife of 57 years, Claire T. (Fassett) Malley died in 2015. He leaves three sons, James F. Malley, Jr. and his wife Ann Marie of Auburn, Michael A. Malley and his wife Mary of Worcester, and Daniel E. Malley and his wife Mary of Worcester; a daughter, Carolyn A. Kneeland and her husband Scott of Sterling; a brother, Richard Malley of Uxbridge; a sister, Marguerite Barrett of Rutland; seven grandchildren, Katie, Kristen, Jonathan, Shamus, and Timary Malley, and Kaci and Quinn Kneeland; and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester the son of James W. and Lucy (Butler) Malley. James was a devout Catholic, who had a devotion to St. Joseph. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, its men’s club and the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council. James was a union plumber for over 60 years with the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 4.
Mr. Malley was a model train enthusiast and was a boy scout leader for many years. He also enjoyed going to the casinos. He was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan known for his famous saying “God save the Queen.”
His family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the kindness and compassion they provided James during his stay with them.
The funeral is Tuesday, September 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, September 12th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 300 Barber Avenue, Worcester, MA 01605.
