Obituary

SPENCER: Henry R. Heffernan 69, of Hastings Rd., died Saturday, Aug. 27 in Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Jean C. (Jane) Heffernan, his sons Scott E. Heffernan of Sterling and Christopher T. Heffernan and his fiance Caralyn Stevens of Spencer, a sister Charlotte Lucier and her husband Walter of So. Grafton, 7 grandchildren; Megan, Michael, Kevin & Jay Heffernan, Thomas, Matthew & Shawn Heffernan, nieces and nephews.

Henry was an accountant for the former Jamesbury Corp. in Worcester for 30 years, and most recently Athena Diagnostics, now Quest Diagnostics, before retiring in May of 2014.
Born in Northbridge, he was the son of Charles T. and Anna T. (Kolesnik) Heffernan. He later graduated from Grafton High School, received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northeastern Univ. in Boston and a master's degree in accounting from Bentley Univ. in Waltham. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Henry was a devoted animal care advocate, volunteering time with Second Chance Animal Shelter and Spencer Animal Control. Henry enjoyed vacationing with Jean to So. Carolina, New Mexico, Arizona and Florida.

Calling hours will be held from 4pm to 6pm on Monday, August 29, 2016 followed by a funeral service at 6 pm in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Please omit flowers.
