Obituary

WEBSTER - L. Roland Choiniere, 90, of Webster, died Thursday, August 25, 2016, surrounded by his family, in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester after an illness. His wife of 63 years, Joan P. (Killoran) Choiniere, died in 2013.

He leaves 7 children, David P. Choiniere of Webster, Stephen R. Choiniere and his wife Rebecca of Knox, NY, Robert P. Choiniere and his wife Linda of Gibsonia, PA, Mary-Jane Verdier and her husband Patrick of Cumberland, RI, Thomas R. Choiniere and his wife Christine of Saratoga, NY, Carol Allen and her husband Scott of Milford, and John D. Choiniere and his wife Helen Marie of Marlborough; 15 grandchildren, Katherine, Daniel and Anne Choiniere, Alyssa and Nicholas Choiniere, Thomas, Michael and Patrick Verdier, Matthew, Philip, Mark and Nicole Choiniere, and Patricia and her husband Christopher Cunniff, Leah and her husband Atlas Allen-Manning and George Allen; his step-grandchildren, Paul, Patrick, Josef and Francis Langton and nephews and nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Yvonne Belleville, Ernestine Barsalou & Eunice Dudac and by his brothers, Raymond and J. Armand Choiniere.

He was born and raised in Webster, a son of Elzear and Annie (Parenteau) Choiniere. He was a graduate of Bartlett High School, class of 1944.

Mr. Choiniere was the plant service manager for the New England Telephone Company in Worcester for 36 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a weekly adorer at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

The funeral will be held on Monday, August 29, from the Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main
Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial with military honors, will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A calling period will be from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home prior to the Mass. Donations in his name may be made to either Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 18 East Main St., or to All Saints Academy, Saint Anne Campus, 12 Day St., PO Box 818, both in Webster, MA 01570.
