Obituary

Evans, GA – Dwight Hill Bowling, Sr., 69, was reunited with his loving wife of 50 years, the late Virginia M. Bowling, on Monday, August 22, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Pastor Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Dwight was born in Augusta, GA. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Kimberly Clark after 40 years of service as a maintenance mechanic. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and was an avid UGA fan. Dwight was a ray of sunshine to everyone and was known for his sense of humor. He loved to make others laugh by telling jokes.

Survivors include one son; Dwight Hill Bowling, Jr. (Allie), two daughters; Jeana Bowling Rice (Jeff), Kimberly Bowling Eaton (Dan), six grandchildren; Jeffery Glenn Rice, II, Jordan Hill Rice, Jace Marie Rice, Davis Stanley Coss, Kayla Mills Coss, and Addison Joy Bowling. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Victor “Banks” Bowling, Jr., and sister Nan Bowling Smith.

Pallbearers will be Dan Eaton, Davis Coss, Jeff Rice, Jeffery Rice, II, Jordan Rice, Ken Waller, and David White. James Young will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dwight’s caregivers, Linda Johnson and Margaret Armstrong, for the loving and compassionate care.
