Obituary


WORCESTER/WEST YARMOUTH-Paul R. Connor, 62, passed away peacefully at his Cape Cod home on Monday morning after a courageous battle with Melanoma. Paul was surrounded by his loving family and friends not just in his final days, but his final months.

Paul is survived by his high school sweetheart, love of his life, Judith (Boyd) Connor, his loving wife of 42 years. Paul was the very proud father to daughter, Jaclyn Connor and son, Ryan Connor both of Worcester. Most importantly, Paul was a dedicated grandfather to Reaghan and loving son to his mom, Roberta Connor. Paul also leaves his sister, Sandra Murray and his large extended family. Paul had a very special bond with his nieces and nephews as well as his great nieces and nephews. They adored their uncle. Paul was predeceased by his dad, Robert Connor.

Paul was born in Worcester and was a proud graduate of St. Peter’s High School and attended Worcester State University. Paul was a proud member of the Brotherhood of Utility Workers of New England Local 330 and worked at National Grid for 30 years, where many of his coworkers became great friends and part of his extended family.

Paul was a man of unshakeable faith and was a member of Christ the King Church. Paul loved life and was an active member of the community. He was a member of the Sons of Erin Cape Cod, Alhambra Council #88 Knights of Columbus in Worcester and the Marine Corp. League in Worcester. Paul was also a past coach at the Jesse Burkett Softball League and Biddy Basketball at Sacred Heart Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many recent trips to Myrtle Beach. Paul excelled at cooking and hosted many family gathering including Thanksgiving for 35 years and made it look easy. He loved music, sports and the Red Sox and Patriots in particular.

The Connor family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care he received during his illness at Massachusetts General Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Ryan Sullivan and Dr. Russell Jenkins for their outstanding care, compassion and efforts during Paul’s illness. We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful care and compassion provided by the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod. Especially our new friends, Diane and Judy. Their compassion for Paul and the entire family will always be remembered.

Paul’s visiting hours will be on Thursday, August11th from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 12th at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Paul’s name may be made to The Center for Melanoma, c/o Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114.
