WORCESTER: John N. Vangel, 73, died on Friday, August 5, 2016 at his home. He leaves his wife of almost 41 years, Jean C. (Bergan) Vangel; a son, Brian and his wife Emilie; two daughters, Debbie and Tina; three additional sons, Mark, Jason and his Wife Tammy, Michael and his wife Olivia; another daughter, Susan; 19 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his aunt, Josie Chiras; and many nieces and nephews. He was born in Boston, son of the late, Nicola and Anna (Baris) Vangel. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
John was a water meter inspector for the City of Worcester where he worked for many years until retiring in 2001. He enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes and gambling.
He will be remembered for his sharing of recipes.
There are no Calling Hours. After cremation, Private Memorial Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
