Obituary


Ross F. Burnett of South Portland, Maine, was promoted to Glory on August 5, 2016 at age 90. He and his wife Lorraine (Cooper) were married for 48 years. She predeceased him on August 24, 1997. They lived in Auburn, Mass. before moving to Maine in 1986.

He was the son of Milton and Lillian (Stuart) Burnett and was brought up in Boylston, Mass. Mr. Burnett was a WWII and Korean War Veteran, having served eight years in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served on the USS Yellowstone. Mr. Burnett worked for Morgan Construction for 23 years as a welder. He was a member of Spring Hill Gospel Hall of Westbrook, Maine. He was known as the "Flannel Graph Preacher of Maine," and he and his late wife were known throughout the country for Nursing Home Ministry. He led this Ministry for more than 20 years. He belonged to Radio Control Boat Club, RC Boaters of Maine. Mr. Burnett enjoyed building large radio controlled wooden ships, including the Nantucket Lightship. He also enjoyed striper fishing, camping, and watching sports with his son Terrance.

He leaves three sons, Gary R. Burnett of Auburn, David G. Burnett of Leicester, and Terrance L. Burnett of South Portland, Maine. He also leaves four grandchildren, Warren, Jason, and Brandon Burnett, and Jennifer Quinn; and two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Bradley Quinn. He was predeceased by a brother Stuart Burnett.

Funeral Services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Mass. on Thursday, August 11. A calling hour will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, Mass.
