Obituary

Worcester – Sharon A. (Doray) Wood, 57, of Worcester, died on Sunday, July 24th in her home after being stricken ill.

Sharon is survived by her three children, Peter Wood of Barre, MA, Tamara Rondeau and her husband, Joseph of Spencer and Shawna Wood of Worcester; her parents, Thomas and Catherine (Barrett) Doray of Syracuse; a sister, Virginia Doray of Syracuse, NY; her former husband and friend of 33 years, Richard Wood of Barre, MA; 5 grandchildren, Julianna, Nadia, Ava, Alexia and Carl as well as many nephews and nieces.

Sharon was born in Syracuse, NY and is predeceased by a sister, Karen Doray. She served in the United States Navy where she was awarded the Armed Forces Achievement Medal. Sharon worked on defense intelligence in the Pentagon where one of her regular duties was to produce briefings for both the President of the United States and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

She worked for many years as a secretary in the medical field, most recently for Dr. Pitts. Sharon previously worked at both St. Vincent Hospital and the Internal Revenue Service. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sharon had an outgoing personality that was infectious and she was the happiest when she was either shopping or knitting.
