Obituary

Worcester – John F. “Sonny” Jankowski, 87, of Worcester died on Tuesday, July 26th in the St. Mary’s Healthcare Center after a long illness with his cousin by his side.

Sonny was born in Wakefield, son of the late John and Stella Jankowski. He moved to Worcester over 30 years ago and joined the McManus family. He is survived by many cousins, including Cathi Joseph and her children, Jason and Eric; Pam Hultquist and her husband Russell and Jack McManus and his wife Jess. He held a special place in everyone’s heart.

Sonny attended the Seven Hills Adult Day Health Program for many years where he had a great amount of happy memories and developed many friendships. He loved being with his family and enjoyed to fish, watch westerns & old John Wayne movies, looking at books, playing cards, animals (especially horses and dogs), loved his desserts and candy bars. He was an active member of the St. Andrew the Apostle Church Community. Sonny was the happiest person, he loved everyone and everyone loved him. He will be greatly missed.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 29th at 10AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church 5 Spaulding St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham. A calling hour will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Memorial contributions in memory of Sonny may be made to the Seven Hills Adult Day Health Program 81 Hope Ave. Worcester, MA 01603 or to St. Andrew the Apostle Church c/o St. Peter’s Church 929 Main St. Worcester, MA 01610.
