Albert Scola

Mr. Albanto "Albert" Scola, 89, passed away on Saturday, July 23rd with his family by his side.

Born in Worcester on February 11, 1927, a son of the late Michele Nunziato and Angelina ( Morello) Scola.

A lifelong resident of Worcester, Albert attended Worcester Schools. He served his country in the Navy during World War II. Upon his return be began his work in the family market eventually becoming owner and operator of Scola's Market in Worcester for over 80 years. Albert became famous for the best homemade Italian sausage in town along with best club sandwiches, too.

Albert was a parishioner of St. John's Church in Worcester and a member of the Knights of Columbus where he grew to be a 3rd degree Knight.

His family wishes to extend their gratitude to the licensed staff of Beaumont Nursing Home with special recognition to Pat, Michael, Carmella and Erin; to the CNA's Dorothy, Jessenia, Tamar, Jaime, Adelaide, Taryn, Janet and Jules; and to the others Suzanne, Diane and Luz.

In addition the family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Jewish Healthcare Hospice with special recognition to Sr. Patricia Foley, his hospice nurse, Jenn, and his CNA Mary.

Albert is pre-deceased by his siblings, Ralph Scola, Rose Pezzella, Mary Conti, Anna Ozioli and his sister, Dolores Simulevich, who died this past June 7, 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jane (Lizotte) Scola, son Stephen Scola and his wife Donna, daughters, Karen Steiger and her husband Dr. Charles Steiger, and Susan Scola; a brother, Dr. Daniel Scola and his wife Theresa, a sister Virginia Palazzi; His grandchildren Dana, Marc and Michelle Scola and Emily Steiger.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 27th from FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch St. in Worcester. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 am at St. John's Church, Worcester. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. CALLING HOURS will be on Tuesday, July 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
