Obituary

Stephen D. Harris, 84, of Charlton died Thursday, July 21st at home surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Jean M. (Harris) Harris; a son, Michael L. Harris and his wife, Karen of Grand Junction, CO; a step brother, Leonard Ivel and his wife, Judy of Leicester; 3 grandchildren, Darlene, Stephen II and Jeromy and his wife, Jess; two great grandsons, Seth and Joshua and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Regina F. Harris.
He was born in Belfast, Maine the son of Douglas and C. Regina (Cash) Harris. Stephen worked at Quinsig Automotive Warehouse as the special order controller monitoring the inventory for many years, he retired in 1998. He previously worked at Worcester Automatic Heating where he started as an oil truck driver and worked his way up to a service technician. Mr. Harris was a member of the National Guard Company A for nine years. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, playing cards and checkers and spending time in his garden. He was a member of the NRA and the Charlton Housing Association.
His funeral is Wednesday, July 27th with a service at 11:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 26th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Charlton Fire Department, P.O. Box 114, Charlton City, MA 01508.
