Alice G. (Vail) Birkbeck, 90, of Worcester died Thursday, July 21st in the Golden Living Center – The Hermitage. Her husband of 28 years, Donald E. Birkbeck died in 1984. She leaves two sons, Robert M. Birkbeck and his wife, MaryBeth of Spencer and Michael V. Birkbeck of Worcester; a daughter in law, Pamela Birkbeck of Worcester; a brother, John P. Vail and his wife, Mary of Leicester; seven grandsons, Michael M., Christopher J., Robert D., William V. Birkbeck, Nicholas P., Daniel J., and Christopher J. Brodeur. She was predeceased by a son, Jonathan “Woof” Birkbeck; a daughter, Nancy A. Brodeur; two brothers, William A. Vail and Robert W. Vail, Jr. and a sister, Virginia Plananshek.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Robert W. and Alice G. (Houston) Vail. Alice was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and enjoyed spending her summers on the Cape.
Her funeral is Tuesday, July 26th with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 10:00 until 10:50 AM in the church.
