Obituary

Theodora "Lola" Pirpiris, 56, of Sturbridge died Wednesday, July 6th at home surrounded by her loving family after her battle with pancreatic cancer. She leaves her husband of 37 years, Georgios Pirpiris; her son, John Pirpiris of Worcester; her daughter, Demi Athans and her husband, Alexander, of Sturbridge; her parents, John and Zoi Giortsou; her sister, Toula Karagiannaki and her husband, Christos, of Hrisohorafa, Greece; and her grandson, John A. Athans.
Lola was born in Hrisohorafa, Greece, and emigrated to California in 1976 where she met and married her husband. Lola and her family moved to Sturbridge in 1988. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the Cultural Center Hrisohorafiton Alexander The Great, and served as president of the Daughters of Alexander the Great. Lola was a loving wife, devoted mother, and beautiful spirit who took joy in her family, especially her grandson John. She had a golden heart, a captivating smile, a beautiful laugh, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Her funeral is Monday, July 11th at O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a service at 10:00 AM at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester. The burial will follow at Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, July 10th, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
