WORCESTER: Margaret T. “Theresa” (Kilcoyne) Slaney, 87, a resident of Tatnuck Park, 340 May St., formerly of Malden St., died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. Her husband of 24 years, Frederick D. Slaney, died September 15, 1976.
She leaves two sons, Frederick D. Slaney, Jr. of Prospect, CT, Paul Slaney and his wife Nancy of Groton, MA, a daughter, Laureen A. Duquette and her husband Richard of Oxford, MA; eight grandchildren, Heidi and Thomas Slaney, James, Christine and David Sherwin and his wife Mary, Nicholas, Allyson and Katelyn Slaney; one great granddaughter, Alexa Sherwin; and many nieces and nephews.
A son, Stephen F. Slaney, two brothers, John F. Kilcoyne and Thomas R. “Ray” Kilcoyne, and her sister, Mary W. Roughan, all predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Michael F. and Margaret M. (McNamara) Kilcoyne and graduated from Commerce High School.
Theresa worked as an Admissions Clerk at the former Worcester City Hospital for many years until she retired. She was past-president of the PTA for the Norrback Avenue School and a long-time member of St. Christopher’s Church where she once served as a Religious Education Teacher. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling and spending time with her family.
The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the staff of Tatnuck Park for the kindness and compassionate care they provided for Theresa.
A CALLING HOUR will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. on FRIDAY, JULY 1st at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln Street, followed by a FUNERAL MASS at 10:15 A.M. at ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CHURCH, 950 West Boylston Street. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
