Obituary

WORCESTER: Edith E. (Jones) Wilson, 97, formerly of 475 Chandler St. and previously a long time resident of Mayfield St, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Knollwood Nursing Center. Her husband of 67 years, Oliver U. Wilson, Sr., died April 8, 2016.

She leaves three children, Oliver U. Wilson, Jr. and his wife Nadine of San Diego, CA, Earline E. Randolph and her husband Terry of Teaneck, NJ, Mark R. Wilson and his wife Ann-Marie of Shrewsbury; three sisters-in-law, Laura Pearson, Paula Fisher and Marilyn Ward, all of Worcester; five grandchildren, Toya, Lena and Julian Randolph, Taylor and Derek Markarian; and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Beaverdam, Hanover County, Virginia, daughter of the late Charles H. and Gertrude (Coleman) Jones. She also lived in Richmond, Virginia before moving to Worcester in 1936.

Edith was a successful entrepreneur having worked as a self-employed private caterer and providing domestic services for many different families in the Worcester area.
She was a devoted member of St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Worcester which merged with Covenant United Methodist Church many years ago. She loved playing cards, laughing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her fine southern style culinary skills and for preparing meals for her family, friends and church community. Some of her original recipes were included in a Worcester Art Museum Cook Book.

CALLING HOURS will be from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on SATURDAY, JUNE 4 in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St., followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE at 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.
