Joel Christian Dement
N. Augusta, SC---Joel Christian Dement, 36, left here and joined his family in Heaven on May 25, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 28, 2016 in the Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Road Chapel with Reverend Larry Scales officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Joel was a resident of North Augusta, South Carolina. He was born in Bossier City, Louisiana on August 18, 1979. Those who knew Joel found him to be a sensitive, genuine person with a huge heart. He loved camping with his son Sterling on the Savannah River and loved having his ears pulled by his baby, George Wyatt.
Joel was preceded in death by his brother, Marcus Dement.
He was the youngest son of Wanda DeLaigle LaVigne (Dr. William E. LaVigne) of Augusta, Georgia and Steve Dement of Frierson, Louisiana. He was the loving father of two sons, Sterling and Wyatt Dement. He was the brother of Stevie Dement (Cissy) and Shane Dement. He was the uncle of Cade, McKenna, Christian, Jolie Bey, Bella and Kessler Dement. He was the grandson of Genee Barnes who he lovingly called “Grandbaby”.
Pallbearers will be Joey Cardos, Clark Brittingham, Thomas Blanton, Beau Parker, Jack Evans and Clayton Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen DeLaigle and Phil Pence.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Platt’s Belair Road.
