Auburn – Muriel A. (Bragdon) Manghue, 87, of Auburn, MA and Franconia, NH passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, 7th in her home.

Muriel is survived by her two children, Glenn M. Coughlin and his wife Suzanne of Worcester and Shawn F. Coughlin and his wife Cynthia of North Brookfield; a sister, Barbara Medlyn of Milford, NH; six grandchildren, Shannon Voyer, Alicia Vazquez, Benjamin Coughlin, Ryan Coughlin, Brendan Coughlin and Brodin Coughlin; agreat grandson, Leo Voyer and many nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Manghue was born in Amherst, NH daughter of the late Orson H. Bragdon Sr. and Helen Lucy (Newton) Bragdon. She is also predeceased by her husbands, F. Michael Coughlin, who passed away in 1995, and H Ward Manghue who died in 1986 and 4 brothers and sisters, Robert Bragdon, Richard Bragdon, Orson H. “Jay” Bragdon Jr. and Bernice Hardy.

Muriel earned a Masters Degree from Worcester State Teacher’s College and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1951. She worked as a business teacher for 34 years at North Brookfield High School retiring in 1986. Muriel also worked as a legal secretary in North Brookfield where she resided for many years before moving to Franconia, NH.

Mrs. Manghue was an accomplished genealogist who enjoyed knitting and sewing, however her two greatest passions after her retirement were golfing and skiing. She’ll be missed by her friends at Bethlehem Country Club and Cannon Mountain.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Brookdale Eddy Pond in Auburn, where Muriel was residing for the past 2 years for the exceptional love and care that was extended to her.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 11 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester, with a Mass at 9:30 AM in St. John’s Church 44 Temple St. Worcester. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM in Meadow View Cemetery in Amherst, NH. A calling hour will be held from 8 to 9 AM on Wednesday morning in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Central Catholic School 865 main St. Worcester, MA 01610.
