Obituary

Eugene R. Towne, 83, of Derry, NH, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in the Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua. Mr. Towne was born in Morristown, VT on May 16, 1921, a son of the late E. Robert and Anna E. (Kelley) Towne. He was a resident of Derry since 1972, formerly living in Arlington, MA. He was a graduate of Somerville High School in Somerville, MA. Mr. Towne was a WWII Coast Guard veteran. He was employed as a meat cutter for First National for over 20 years. In later years he was a self employed chicken farmer in Derry. He loved the country and all animals, ballroom dancing and rollerskating.

He is survived by his devoted loving companion, Terri McGrath of Derry, four daughters, Bernadette Anderson of Arlington, MA, Beverly Sorgente of Gilford, NH, Sandra Trott of Manchester, NH, Jeanette Buonora of Sayville, NY, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, three sisters, Lorraine Brackett, Doris Deljanovan and Evelyn Scannell, several nieces & nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 31st at 10:00am in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Ave., Derry. The burial will be in the Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield, MA. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 1- 5pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry.
