James Forrest Byrd, Sr.
Augusta, GA – James Forrest Byrd, Sr. of Augusta, GA, United States Navy (Retired), son of the late Benjamin F. Byrd and Elsie Hall Byrd, entered into eternal life on Sunday, February 02, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Jordan Byrd of Swainsboro and Augusta, GA. He is also survived by his daughters, Andrea Byrd-Doak of Martinez, Elizabeth Byrd Palmer (Anthony) of Warrenville, SC; sons, James F. Byrd II of Augusta, Christopher B. Byrd (Betty) of Grovetown. Additionally, he is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley Pelton of Warrenville, SC, AJ Doak (Ali) of Martinez, Melissa Palmer of Warrenville, SC, James F. Byrd III of San Antonio, TX, Benjamin Pelton (Tonya) of Beech Island, SC, Brandy Doak Schlein (Greg) and Andrea Doak Buono of Martinez; great-grandchildren, Gracelynn Rae Doak, Alexis and Kylie Schlein, Austin Adams, Zack and Melonie Pelton; sister, Peggy Dees of Martinez; and brother, Ben F. Byrd, Jr. (Rose) of North Augusta.
Mr. Byrd was a member of Hill Baptist Church of Augusta, GA.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Ron Jones officiating. Full Navy Honors will be accorded. Interment to be private.
