Albert J. Wallace, age 55, of Sharon passed away suddenly on January 22, 2014 at Norwood Hospital. Born and raised in Baldwin New York, Albert graduated from Baldwin Sr. High School. He received a full Gymnastic Athletic Scholarship to UMass Amherst and was a nationally ranked gymnast destined for the Olympics until a serious injury sidelined him. Mr. Wallace continued to excel as the Director of Telecommunications for the City of Boston for 12 years before retiring in 1995. He was instrumental in implementing the nation’s first E911 system, an emergency service system that has been credited for saving hundreds of lives. He has since worked as the Vice President of IXP Corp. and continued to advise corporations, colleges, airports and municipals on Emergency Services Systems. Mr. Wallace was a member of the Sharon Country Club, and was formerly on the Board of Directors for Sharon Pop Warner. He was a very gifted musician, who played in a band during his college years and loved playing the guitar with family and friends. Beloved husband of Ronna Bernstein Wallace. Loving father of Sahra Wallace and husband Kevin McGuire of Connecticut, Lisa of Maryland, & Samuel of Massachusetts. Son of Sandra and the late Albert S. Wallace of New York. Devoted brother of Bob Wallace of Connecticut & Maureen Faraczek of New York. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours in the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Friday from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm followed by a funeral service at the funeral home from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Saturday morning at 10 am followed by burial at Rock Ridge Cemetery in Sharon.
