Judy Paulk, 80, of Wray, Georgia died Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Friday, September 13, 2013, at Satilla Baptist Church, Irwin County with the Rev. William Pope officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Paulk was born December 6, 1932, in the Holt community to the late Hugo and Pearl Ross Handley. She was a graduate of Ocilla High School and received her business degree from South Georgia College in Douglas. A giving and caring individual, Mrs. Paulk has been a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A dedicated Christian, she is a long-time member of Satilla Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday school.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years: Jacob Paulk of Wray; her four sons and daughters-in-law: Terrence J. & Susan Paulk of Fitzgerald, Gary H. & Ann Paulk of Wray, Dr. Larry L. & Laura Paulk of Denver, NC, and J.W., Jr. & Tammy Paulk of Wray; grandchildren and their spouses: Christie & Ryan Copeland, Dorie & Will Bacon, Chris & Jorjanne Paulk, Eric & Stephanie Paulk, Amy & Derek Grist, Anna & Matthew Driggers, Daniel & Samantha Paulk, Lydia Paulk, Jonathan Paulk, Sarah Paulk & Abby Paulk; great-grandchildren: Paulk Bacon, Seth Paulk, Caleb Paulk, Audrey Paulk, Noah Paulk, Mason Grist, Miley Grist, ; and one sister: Jeanette Oakley of Ocilla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father: Bill Padgett and a brother-in-law: Fred Oakley.
