Charlie Edward Whitley, age 80, of Douglas, GA passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Whitley was born October 24, 1932 in Nicholls, GA to the late Charlie Whitley and Frances Carver Whitley.
Survivors include his wife: Betty Ruth Grantham Whitley of Douglas, GA; Daughter: Brenda Whitley Horton of Nicholls, GA; two sons: Bruce Whitley and Brian Whitley of Douglas, GA; Brother: Oscar Whitley of Douglas, GA and two sisters: Mary Brigmond of Ft Valley, GA and Myrtice Thomas of Nicholls, GA; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 from 6 to 9 PM at Sims Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 4:00 PM at First Assembly of God in Douglas, GA with Rev. Marshall Adcock and Rev. Byron Griffis officiating. Interment will follow in Grantham Cemetery on Rocky Pond Road, Douglas, GA.
