Warren K. Heckman, age 88, of Mansfield , a businessman died on Monday, July 29, 2013 at home.
Mr. Heckman was born and educated in Worcester, Mass. where he graduated from Commerce High School and Clark University. He held BBA and MA economic degrees. He was a WWII veteran having served as a sergeant in the Army Air Corp.
He was president and chief operating officer for Heath Consultants of Stoughton, Mass. In 1978, with his wife, Arlene, he founded a management consulting firm which operated until 2003. He served on several college and university faculties including Northeastern University where he taught 23 years. He was a senior lecturer.
Mr.. Heckman was closely associated with the natural gas industry. He was a board member of the New England Gas Association and president of the Vermont Gas Association. He was a member of the Guild of Gas Managers and the Society of Gas Lighters.
In 1978 he was named the marketing and sales executive of New England of the year by the Sales and Marketing Executive of Boston. He was past president of that organization. He was a board member of the Boston Chapter of the American Cancer Society. He was a member of the Blue Hill Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
For most of Mr. Heckman’s adult life he and his family spent their vacations in Nova Scotia and after retiring they spent six months of each year.
Mr. Heckman married Arlene J. Barrett in 1958. They have two daughters, Patricia L. Eastwood of Canton, Mass. and Rev. Linda Monroe and her husband Mark J. Munroe of Annandale, Virginia. He has four grandchildren, Sarah, Jonathan, Ethan and Emily.
Funeral services and burial were private and were under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
