Obituary

Michael J. Phelan, 49, of Worcester died Saturday, March 16th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves a son, Sean P. Phelan of Jefferson; a daughter, Jacqueline M. Phelan of Jefferson; his mother, Barbara Churchill of Winter Haven, FL; a brother, Patrick Phelan of Holden; a step brother, Peter Fisher of Worcester; three step sisters, Donna Parmenter of Adams, Cheryl Burton of Pownal, ME and Patricia Nelson of Worcester; two grandchildren, Riley M. Leslie and Braeden T. Rogowski both of Jefferson; his former wife, Debbie (Reardon) Phelan of Jefferson; a niece, Erin and three nephews, Michael, Daniel and Patrick
He was born in Worcester the son of Edmond Phelan. Michael graduated from Worcester Vocational and was a United States Marine Corps veteran. Mr. Phelan worked for the United States Post Office as a letter carrier and previously worked for the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years as a sergeant, retiring in 2002. Michael enjoyed watching New England sports, golfing and was an excellent cook.
Calling hours are Tuesday, March 19th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a service at 6:30 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
