Mattie Mildred Rogers, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwin County with the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Fitzgerald from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM before the service.
Mrs. Rogers was born September 22, 1920, in Gwinnett County, Georgia to the late Milligan Magnus and Vinnie Lee Baughcum White. She lived in the community most of her life. She enjoyed quilting and loved her family. She was a member of Crossview Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons: Tommy & Evelyn Rogers of Cumming, Jerry & Gail Rogers of Douglas and Terry Rogers of Fitzgerald; two daughters: Janet & Wayne Lancaster and Charlotte Rathburn all of Fitzgerald; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and three sisters: Pearl Hall of Atlanta, Irene Anderson of Fitzgerald and Betty Avery of Sylvester. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Robert E. L. Rogers; son: Charles Emory Rogers; brother: D. C. White and a sister Minnie Mae Guinn.
