Obituary

Philip C. Gadsby, 79 of E. Derry, NH died peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Maple Leaf Healthcare Center, Manchester, NH. Philip was born in New Gloucester, ME on January 1, 1933 a son of the late James P. and Ada E. (Hamilton) Gadsby. He was raised and educated in Seabrook, NH and Amesbury, MA. He had been a resident of East Derry since 1970, and lived in Manchester from 1957 to 1969. Mr. Gadsby served with the US Navy on a supply ship as an engine mechanic. He was a career HVAC technician and a member of UA Local 131 of Manchester, NH for 55 years. Mr. Gadsby enjoyed travel, camping, fishing and photography.
He is survived by his children, Katherine Winmill and husband William of Hampstead, NH, Michael Gadsby of Pembroke, NH, Pamela Edgecomb and husband Kevin of Sandown, NH, James Gadsby and wife Leslie of Derry, NH. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Philip Winmill and wife Jillian of E. Derry, NH, Kirsten Winmill of Hampstead, NH, Jeffrey and Heather Edgecomb of Sandown, NH and Cody and Sydney Gadsby of Derry, NH. Philip is survived by his two brothers, Harold Gadsby of San Antonio, TX, and Robert Gadsby of Salisbury, MA. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy C. (Jacques) Gadsby in 2009.
Following cremation, graveside services with military honors will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00am at Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Breathe New Hampshire, 9 Cedarwood Dr., Unit 12 Bedford, NH 03110. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry is handling arrangements.
