Dorothy J. “Dot” Whatley, 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Friday, November 30, 2012, at Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home in Ocilla, GA.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M. Monday, December 3, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Whatley was born December 20, 1935 in Ben Hill County, GA to the late Charlie C. Coleman and Fleta Lovett Coleman Cody. She attended ABAC and was an administrative assistant at Dorminy Medical Center. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, the Rebeka’s, and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed caring for her family, shopping, and reading.
She is survived by her children: Cindy Waldrop of Fitzgerald, Lloyd & Pam Holton of Ocilla and Coleman & Norma Holton of Fitzgerald; stepchildren: Louis & Barbara Branam of Fitzgerald and Ruby & Marty Cocchiara of Fitzgerald; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; sister: Bonnie Hester of Fitzgerald. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Etsel Holton, Ed Whatley and Reuben Branam and a brother, Jerry Coleman.
