Ronald L. Mowery
Laconia-----Ronald L. Mowery, 68, of 17 Edwards Street, died on Thursday, September 6, 2012 surrounded by family members.
Mr. Mowery was born March 24, 1944 in Greenville, PA, the son of the late Virgil and Florence (Perrine) Mowery.
Mr. Mowery resided in Greenville until moving to Laconia thirty years ago. He had been employed at Lewis & Saunders and later Smith Tubular, retiring in January, 2009.
Ron enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially up at his camp that he renovated in the last few years at Totem Pole Park on Lake Ossipee in Freedom, NH. It was his place to get away, and each week he was eager to get up to camp to relax by the fire, run the grill for his guests and cook s’mores for his kids and grandkids. He truly loved being Grandpa Ron, & family members agreed they saw a softer side of ‘tough guy’ Ron in recent years, hearing more “I love you” comments than his trademark “mess around, lay around” (idle) threats. Some of his family noticed a deeper appreciation for life, and especially the grandkids, since he was initially diagnosed with cancer in 2008.
Ron enjoyed riding his motorcycle, having hosted friends at his home in Laconia for Bike Week for years and taking a trip to Sturgis. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, watching NASCAR and donating his time to help out the local Cystic Fibrosis Foundation office for various fundraisers each year.
Ron is survived by his wife of 28 years, Alice, his four sons, Ronald L. Mowery, Jr., Daniel L. Mowery and his partner Timothy Penney, K. Scott Mowery and his wife, Lisa, and Joshua Slayton Corringham and his wife, Becky; a daughter, Holly Emery, and her husband, Benjamin, a daughter-in-law, Lisa Mook Mowery, six grandchildren, Shaylyn Mowery, Kaitlyn Mowery, Owen Corringham , Lelia Corringham , Taylor Emery, and Jackson Emery; a brother, Donald Mowery, and his wife, Pat, two sisters, Bonnie Barbarossa and her husband, Benjamin, and Marsha Mowery, and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mowery was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Lelia B. Slayton, in 1996 and by three brothers, James, Milton and William.
