Stanley W. Shumilla, Jr.
Retired Mitre Corporation Engineer
TEWKSBURY: Stanley W. Shumilla, Jr. age 69, recently of Wilmington, formerly a longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Wilmington Health Care Center.
Born in Boston on November 18, 1942, he was the son of the late Stanley W. Shumilla and the late Cecilia (Zera) Shumilla.
Stanley was raised in the Dorchester area of Boston. He attended St. Mary's Parochial Grammar School and graduated from Boston College High School.
Following his high school years, Stanley attended Northeastern University, where he received both a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering as well as a Master Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was employed for over 25 years as a Systems Engineer by the Mitre Corporation in Bedford.
He enjoyed stamp collecting, traveling, music, and ballroom dancing. In addition, Stanley was an accomplished accordion player and was a member of a polka band.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer A. O'Mahony and her husband Donogh of San Mateo, CA ; two granddaughters, Judith and Helen O'Mahony both of San Mateo, CA; one brother, Albert F. Shumilla and his wife Sandra of Reading.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Aug. 9, from 10-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, to be followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., in St. Williams Church 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Oblate Residence, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
