Obituary

Theresa M. (Hughes) Keating, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Friday September 26, 2008 unexpectedly at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 79 years old.

Theresa was born in her family home in Charlestown on March 18, 1929. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1946. She also recieved her Associates Degree from Bunker Hill Community College. Theresa worked for many years at the former Jordan Marsh Company in Boston in thier lamps and toys departments. She worked at Bunker Hill Community College as a Administrative Assistant in thier building and grounds department for more than 15 years. She retired from Bunker Hill Community College in 1995. She was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.

Theresa is the beloved wife of 58 years to retired Boston Police Officer Edward J. Keating. She is the devoted mother of Edward Keating of North Attleboro, Terry Curran and her husband Frank of Melrose, Karol Keating of Charlestown, Kevin Keating and his wife Susan of Reading, Daniel Keating and his wife Kate of Melrose and Annette LaPointe and her husband Warren of Malden. She is the loving grandmother of Eddie, David and Jimmy Keating, Derek, Jeff, Mark and Ryan Curran, Eric, Matthew and Michelle Keating, Jack Keating, Michael, Lauren and Stephen LaPointe. She is the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Hughes. She is the beloved sister of Mary Aspell and Barbara Connell both of Stoneham, the late Vera Grill, Joseph, John, James and Richard Hughes. She is the sister-in-law of John "Jake" Keating of Medford. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Theresa's Funeral will be held on Tuesday September 30, 2008 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Monday September 29, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
