A beautiful story to share....Jack touched the lives of many people of all ages. Last night my neighbor came over to give her condolences and told me about her daughter. My little 4 year old neighbor, Makayla, expressed her heartfelt sympathy and anger. She recognized Jack's photo on the news as that nice policeman from the Halloween Parade. Whe she heard that he died, she began crying her little heart out. Then she heard them say that he was shot and her sorrow turned to anger; that someone could shoot that nice policeman. Makayla joins her parents, Darren and Marcia McLeod of Billerica in expressing their deepest sympathy.

Largo, Florida, USA
I lived in Woburn from 1963 to 1998 and during that time I became very close to the McGuire family. I was sworn in as an auxiliary policeman and later served the city as a Constable. Jack and his father were great people. Both had a wry sense of humor and were very dedicated in their jobs and to the community. When Jack was a young man, we used to "hang out" together. I am retired in Florida now but, I can remember him like it was yesterday. He is still on duty now as he is home with God. My deepest condolences and sympathy to his entire family. Carmen

Woburn, Ma.,
My heartfelt sympathies go to Officer Maguire's family, and his fellow officers and dignitary's. My Dad was a Captain with the Somerville Police department. He died in 1993 after a brief illness, just 9 months before he planned to retire. He was buried in his uniform at 61 yrs. of age. It happened so suddenly. So I felt compelled to send this, even though I didn't know Officer Maguire personally, I recognized him right away, because he was everywhere in Woburn. Just like my Dad, he truly was an officer and a gentleman. May God Bless your family, and especially the Woburn Police Dept.

I saw the funeral on TV today, and Tara's name came into my head--then I heard them say that as Officer Maguire's daughter's name. I remember Tara as a student in Wilmington. A friend of mine told me of this outstanding officers passing. I'm reminded of a old passage that read, "When Officers pass it just means one more Angel has been placed in heaven." I truly believe that this upstanding officers will never forget those he loved the most and even those kind folks he did not get to meet. His dedication to serve the community in which he lived and the espree de core, felt by others around him. He will be missed but know that he is watching over head. To his family and the much sorrow this brings, I extend my hand and hope that you may find some comfort in knowing that he will, along side the hands of god, be near thee.

Not only do ALL police Officers belong to the same "Brotherhood", their families do, also. My father was very lucky to retire after 37 years on Andover PD and now I pray every night, that my brother makes it home to his loving family unharmed. Our worst nightmare is what you are living. Believe that there are many "Police Families" who will keep you in their prayers. May your memories of this wonderful man bring peace to your lives and your hearts. loveOfficers

The family of Randolph Aux. Police Officer Max Fishman offers your family our deepest condolences, and we do know exactly how you all feel. Max was a great man who was taken from us far too early, similar to Officer Jack Maguire. Max, was taken from us during the blizzard of 1978. Officer Maguire gave his life, as did Officer Max Fishman, both during blizzards, and both men seasoned cops who were out giving their all to support their communities.

Been trying to find a way to send my condolences for the family, friends, and co-workers and anybody else that knew Officer Jack Maguire. I was so saddened by this. Officer Maguire reminds me of my brother-in-law who died about 3 years ago from Cancer. He was a Correctional Officer. I wish I had transportation because I would of been out there to Salute this hero. My deepest sympathy for everyone. I'm so happy that many people showed up. My sincere Condolences. Nancy Duncan.

I never met Jack Maguire, but my heartfelt condolences go out to his family. I knew his dad. My father, John M. Power, served on the Woburn Police Force from 1940 until his death in 1968. A few days after the funeral I met with Chief Maguire to turn in my father's service revolver. I'll never forget his kind words at that time in my life. Because of that experience, I feel in a way that I knew Jack, and I'm grateful for his heroic service.

We are sick over this story....Our deepest sincere condolences go out to the family of Maguire, particularly his children. May you always find him in the light of whatever your going through. Our condolences go out to the police man who was on the scene first who experienced this horrific tragedy first hand. May you find the strength to heal and continue to serve your city. I reside in Reading, literally right down the street from where the tragedy happened, I drive by Kohls almost everyday and can't even look in the parking lot...we are so very sorry for your loss. May you find God and his faith in your journey of healing. May God bless you and your family. Know that we are all thinking of you and hold our heads up high to a man who was so very brave, he is a hero, always will be in my eyes. Thank you for protecting the community, who knows he might of ended up in someone's backyard. Thank you for saving us all. Rest in Peace
