Obituary

Daniel A. “Dan” Shea, III, 63 years of Brockton died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was husband of Karen A. (Ernst) Shea. He was born in Boston and raised in Hingham, a son of the late Helen (Duffy) and Daniel A. Shea, Jr. and was a 1962 graduate of Hingham High School. Dan received his Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Kings College in PA and Masters Degree in Education from Boston University. He retired five years ago as Program Manager for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation. During the Viet Nam War Dan served in the US Army. Dan loved to read and visit various libraries. He also enjoyed following the stock market on his computer. Dan will be remembered as fun loving, easy going and a great conversationalist; he loved being with his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Slade and her husband John of Stoughton and Katherine Shea of Brockton. He was grandfather of Elizabeth and Daniel Slade of Stoughton. He is also survived by a sister Elaine M. Shea of Weymouth. He was the father of the late Daniel A. Shea, IV.

A funeral will be held from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Hingham. Visiting hours Friday 3-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Dan’s name may be made to the Melanoma Foundation of New England, 66 Commonwealth Avenue, Concord, MA 01742.
