Hudson, MA
Helena M. (Pereira) Resendes, 70, died Tuesday, May 13 at Marlboro Hospital.
She leaves her husband of 47 years, Antonio F. Resendes of Hudson.
She was born in Santa Maria, the Azores, daughter of the late Joao F. and Maria S. (Moreira) Pereira. She resided in Portugal until moving to Hudson some 36 years ago. She was employed as an assembler for the Hudson Lock Co. for 20 years until retiring in 2003. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson. Helena loved gardening and spending time at home cooking and caring for her loving family and friends. She always looked forward to the many feasts and functions held at the Hudson Portuguese Club. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother, sister and friend.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Cindy and Aida Resendes, both of Hudson; her sister Emilia Sousa and husband Jose of Hudson; her 4 brothers, Manuel Pereira and wife Maria and Antonio Pereira, all of Florida, Jose Pereira of Canada and Joao Pereira and wife Aida of Santa Maria, the Azores and many nieces and nephews. She was sister to the late Bernardina Morais.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 17, at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St. Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749
