Obituary

Mr. Julius Jackson (Jack) Conner, Jr., 74, of Atlanta, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Hospice Atlanta.

A memorial service in his honor will be held 11 A.M., Monday, October 19 at Lawrence Drive Baptist Church in Macon with Rev. Brad Marchman and Rev. Fred O. Pitts, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at 4 P.M. in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 3-4 P.M. at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald.

Mr. Conner was born March 30, 1935 in Wilcox County to the late Julius Jackson and Marie Miller Conner. He graduated from Abbeville High School and had lived in Atlanta for the past several months from Macon, where he lived since 1958. Mr. Conner served in the United States Navy for four years and he also served in the 202nd Squadron, Air Force National Guard in Warner Robins for 35 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he worked at CMC Well Supply in Macon for 12 years. Mr. Conner was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle who leaves on earth a legacy full of the love of Jesus Christ. He will be missed by all who knew him, but “to live is Christ and to die is gain!”

Mr. Conner is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vivian Gaines Conner of Atlanta; daughter and husband, Cynthia Conner Pitts and Fred of Atlanta; son and wife, Paul Aaron Conner and Deborah of Statesboro; eight grandchildren; sister, Faye Conner Williams of Orange Park, FL and a brother, James Herman Conner of Brunswick as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Conner.
