Monty Mathis “Bodie” Harden, 56, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, August 6, 2009.
Memorial services will be held 3 P.M. Saturday, August 8 at the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald with Rev. Mike Ruffin and Rev. Jimmy McIlrath officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Harden was born January 22, 1953 in Fitzgerald to Jacquelyn Mathis Harden and the late Maurice E. Harden. He was a 1971 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mr. Harden attended Georgia Southwestern College before enlisting in the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War era. He was a retired network administrator for Dallas-Fort Worth Airport before moving back to Fitzgerald in 2005. Mr. Harden was former owner/operator of Snacks By The Tracks in Fitzgerald and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother: Jackie Harden of Fitzgerald; son: Michael Andrew Harden of Dallas, TX; sisters and brothers-in-law: Maurisa H. & Jack Paulk of Fitzgerald and Melinda H. & Eddie Biggers of Cordele; brother & sister-in-law: Mike & Jane Harden of Fitzgerald; 7 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews.
