David Smith, 64, of Fitzgerald died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 7 P.M., Friday evening, August 15 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. Graveside services will be held 1 P.M., on Saturday at Davis Cemetery in Mableton, Georgia. The body will lie-in-state noon on Friday until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born October 17, 1943 in Austell, Georgia to the late George Douglas Smith and the late Margaret Davis Smith Glore. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1990 from Forest Park, Georgia. Mr. Smith owned and operated the White Horse Saloon in Fitzgerald since 1991 and was former owner/operator of a trucking company. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Vickie Day Smith of Fitzgerald; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott & Kris Smith of Douglasville, Greg & Cindy Smith of Mableton and Christopher & Michele Smith of Winston; 5 grandchildren; foster son, Jasper Goodman of Fitzgerald; sister and brother-in-law. Cheryl & Bryce Williams of Lithia Springs; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas & Carol Ann Smith of West Palm Beach, Fl as well as several nieces and nephews.
